Author Biographies

  • José Gabriel Andrade, Centro de Estudos de Comunicação e Sociedade, Instituto de Ciências Sociais, Universidade do Minho, Braga, Portugal

    José Gabriel Andrade is an Associate Professor with Habilitation in the Department of Communication Sciences at the Institute of Social Sciences, University of Minho, where he conducts teaching and research in organisational and strategic communication. He is an integrated researcher at the Communication and Society Research Centre, where he leads the Strategic Communication, Organisations and Territories Research Group. He holds a European PhD in Communication Sciences from the Catholic University of Portugal and a Master’s degree in Communication, Organisation and New Technologies from the same institution, supported by the European Union’s ALBAN Programme. He has maintained active participation in national and international scientific networks and associations. He is a member of the Portuguese Association of Communication Sciences, where he coordinated the Organisational and Institutional Communication Working Group between 2017 and 2023. He is also a member of the COST European network, the European Communication Research and Education Association, the International Association for Media and Communication Research, and the Iberian-American Communication Association, where he coordinates DTI 9—Organisational Communication Studies. He leads funded research projects in smart buildings and human interactions with artificial intelligence. Since 2022, he has coordinated the “Workshop in Digital Marketing and Communication, Technologies, and Applications” at the World Conference on Information Systems and Technologies.

  • Adriano Sampaio, Faculdade de Comunicação, Universidade Federal da Bahia, Salvador, Brazil

    Adriano Sampaio is a researcher with the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (and the Latin American Network for Research in Organisational Communication. He is a full professor at the School of Communication, Federal University of Bahia, and at the Multidisciplinary Postgraduate Programme in Culture and Society (Institute of Humanities, Arts and Sciences Professor Milton Santos, Federal University of Bahia). He is a visiting professor at the Université du Québec à Montréal (Canada), under the CAPES-PrInt Programme (2023.2). He coordinated and designed the professional master’s Programme in Management and Practices in Communication and Culture (2023) and the Specialisation in Strategic Communication and Brand Management (2013). He holds postdoctoral qualifications from the Postgraduate Programme in Communication at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (2024) and from the School of Communications and Arts at the University of São Paulo (2016–2017). He holds a PhD and a master’s degree in Contemporary Communication and Culture from the Federal University of Bahia, with a doctoral exchange period at Université Paris III – Sorbonne Nouvelle, and a bachelor’s degree in Social Communication — Public Relations from the University of the State of Bahia. He is the leader of the LOGOS research group — Strategic Communication, Brand and Culture, which has been certified by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development since 2014. His research focuses on place branding, strategic communication, cultural planning and management, public communication, discourse analysis and human rights. He is the author of Comunicação Social em Territórios (Social Communication in Territories; 2020) and co-author of Comunicação Estratégica e Gestão de Marcas (Strategic Communication and Brand Management; 2023), Cultura em Tempos Sombrios (Culture in Dark Times; 2023), and Comunicação Organizacional e Relações Públicas. 15 Anos da ABRAPCORP (Organisational Communication and Public Relations: 15 Years of ABRAPCORP; 2022), and Marca Lugar, Comunicação e Cultura (Place Branding, Communication and Culture; 2019), among others. He is president of the Brazilian Association of Researchers in Organisational Communication and Public Relations (2026–2028) and served as the association’s editorial director between 2019 and 2021.

  • Maria José Caldeira, Centro de Estudos de Comunicação e Sociedade, Instituto de Ciências Sociais, Universidade do Minho, Braga, Portugal

    Maria José Caldeira holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Geography, specialising in Human Geography and Regional and Local Planning, from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography at the Institute of Social Sciences, University of Minho. She completed her PhD in 2012 with a study on labour migration and labour market integration processes, comparing strategies developed by Eastern European immigrants in Greater Porto and Portuguese migrants in Geneva. She is Director of the Master’s programme in Geography in the Department of Geography at the University of Minho. She is an integrated member of the Communication and Society Research Centre and a visiting researcher at the INVESTER Research Group at the University of León (Spain). Her research interests are diverse, focusing primarily on migration geography, social geography, urban geography and inclusive urban planning. She is currently developing research on "Geographies of Coexistence: The Construction of Pet-Friendly Territories".
