This paper analyzes the construction/(re)signification of images of women in the full-length movie O céu de Suely (Aïnouz Karim, 2006), which narrative is constructed through the stories of several women characters, that intersect in the space of Iguatu, a small town in the Brasilian Northeast. Highlighting particularly the figure of Hermila, that through the decision of "raffling off her body," takes on multiple identities, this paper aims to investigate the behaviors adopted by women in relation to issues such as romantic love, motherhood, sexuality, freedom, which sometimes reinforce and sometimes confront expectations disseminated extensively on the western culture in relation to social roles played by women.Downloads
